Waterways, Knowledge and Country

Molonglo Conservation Group is excited to have received funding through the Upper Murrumbidgee Community Stewardship Grants Program for our new project, Waterways, Knowledge and Country.

The project will bring Aboriginal participants together with ecologists, land managers, community organisations and cultural knowledge holders for a practical program of learning, knowledge sharing and Caring for Country.

Across the program, participants will take part in workshops covering topics including local plants and wildlife, waterways, frogs, wombats, turtles, waterbugs, seed collection and propagation, monitoring, project planning, grant writing and community storytelling.

 The project is being developed in partnership with Buru Ngunnawal Aboriginal Corporation, with cultural guidance and involvement from Ngunawal Elders, and support from a range of environmental organisations and specialists.

Importantly, learning will be put into practice through hands-on restoration and monitoring activities at Uriarra East on the Murrumbidgee River (pictured above).
