In May, we were lucky enough to be invited to assist with Waterbug surveys at Eucumbene Borrows, a release site for the Stocky Galaxid. The Borrows are a series of artificial ponds connected by and artificial creek, which was created as habitat for the critically endangered Stocky Galaxid. It was a fantastic day, and included representatives from NSW Fisheries, NSW National Parks and Charles Sturt University, who have managed the project. Over 400 Stocky Galaxid were released into the habitat, which will help shore up populations of the rare small-bodied fish for the future. Thanks to Antia at Cooma Waterwatch for inviting us to the Eucumbene Stocky Galaxid Release Day.
